about

Remember the words of Sunn O))): "MAXIMUM VOLUME YIELDS MAXIMUM RESULTS"

credits

released January 29, 2021

Crows Labyrinth and Wolfgang Merx have joined forces to merge the realms of bass guitar, keyboard and synthesizer soundscapes. Both artists find their inspiration in the early years of Tangerine Dream, which can definitely be picked up in this release.

"I have been a big fan of Wolfgang's work for years, so when he proposed to record some music together, I was totally up for it," says Theo. "I think the end result showcases both of our sonic worlds, and shows that they blend really well together."

"I have known Theo for many years and always wanted to combine our styles and understandings of soundscapes. This single is the first step into a new direction and hopefully one of many more to come," says Wolfgang.

About Crows Labyrinth:
Crows Labyrinth is an ambient project, conceived by Theo Tol from the Netherlands. The aim of the project is to create ambient cinematic soundscapes using solely bass guitars (well, usually ;-) ) and effects processing. The soundscapes preferably have to be created in one take, one improvisation, one flow of sound.

Crows Labyrinth is inspired by many artists. These names are a small selection: Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Tangerine Dream, Steven Wilson (with his Bass Communion and I.E.M. projects), Tom Heasley, Loscil, Clem Leek.

This single may also be interesting for fans of Atrium Carceri, Raison d'Être, Lustmord and Biosphere.

About Wolfgang Merx:
Wolfgang Merx is an electronic and ambient musician from Germany. Born and living close to Düsseldorf and Köln, Wolfgang Merx started creating music in 2007 and releasing it in 2009. Since 2018, he streams live music from his studio on Twitch.

His mix of electronic, ambient and drone music is mostly inspired by Berlin School (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream), 70s progressive rock (Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson) and different kinds of jazz (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock).
